1854 Media & British Newspaper of Photography Announce New Ownership

Today, we declare that 1854 and the Uk Journal of Photography is certainly under new ownership, getting with it what we hope to be a momentous return to our heritage by championing photography via our editorial platforms.

A want to reunite British Journal of Photography to the brand’s core beliefs and loyal readership sees this transfer come to a new private owner and long term BJP reader.  

Like many creative companies, recently 1854 has faced several of its greatest challenges. In our case, there have also been modifications to our company and brand that seemingly came with out full explanation. We thank you for your own patience as we confirmed the position in order to bring you a good update once the time had been right. Now is that time.  

With this particular announcement, we say goodbye to our former colleague Marc Hartog as he completely actions away as owner, TOP DOG and chairman of 1854 Media to pursue new interests with his now impartial business, ART3.

We will continue to have a relationship with ART3 in the form of an optional NFT drop participation for our award those who win across the next 24 months. We do so in support for our former team member as we wish him success. 1854 has no intention of going after any further NFT-related partnerships over and above this.  

Our brand new senior management team comprises core team members previously in 1854. Driven by a like for what we represent and the dedication to keep the BJP going, we have spent the last few months working hard to be in a situation to make this announcement for you today. We are thrilled to get BJP’s Creative Director associated with 25 years, Mick Moore since our new CEO.

Editorial direction remains with our known Editorial Director Izabela Radwanska Zhang, BJP’s first female Editor, and supported simply by BJP’s award-winning editorial team.  

Speaking to what this means for future years, we will take this opportunity to concentrate on serving and supporting our community. You can also expect to view a return to the old, as we concentrate on building on the core beliefs of our brand, and the routines that have contributed to it over its 168-year history.

Materially, we aim for this to become realised through more occasions, more discussion, more displays, more activations, and an even more accessible BJP.   We will continue to printing bi-monthly, and to develop the international programme of awards.   The online presence remains in your own home on 1854. photography and distributed via our BJP-dedicated social media channels, and the BJP App.
