One of the two professional photographers chosen for S hoot the Sequel: Then and Now The united states , Grove returns to 1854 Gifts in order to discuss his most recent project, in which he searches for the complexities behind their home state of Washington, as well as the wider world associated with America.
Following a year of lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions, Groves signature bank style can be felt by means of this new work, entrusted in collaboration with MPB . Working in mostly rural locations, Groves’ work hopes to document the changing landscapes of a nation. “A rural place is definitely where I feel house, ” he explains. “It allows for a deeper understanding. ”
Incorporating geography in order to tell stories of its eastern/western inhabitants, Grove documents a situation famous for its divisions, discovering the length of state and those which live within it.
