The latest Fujifilm X Summit was packed with fascinating announcements. From updated cameras to new lenses for that GFX and X-Series systems, there’s quite a lot to unpack. This doesn’t just consist of product announcements but also up-to-date lens roadmaps and other teasers of their future plans.

More Affordable Medium Format

Firmware Update for GFX 50s plus 100s
Fujifilm announced a new firmware update for the GFX 50s and 100s which includes the particular Black Magic RAW codec (B-Raw) for videographers. Last year they released ProRes Raw capability via a firmware update, so this will be a welcome approach to videographers. This (free) update will be available via a firmware update in October.
Plans for an XLR adapter
Fujifilm also introduced plans to jointly create an adapter for XLR inputs. This will allow you to record directly though the camera along with professional recording equipment so that you don’t have to sync your own audio with your video later in post-production.
Fuji XF 18-120mm lens
Fuji announced the development of a new 18-120mm lens that will be improved for both video but still photographers. They didn’t sign at what those features may be, so while gossips abound, we will have to hold watching for more information about this lens. It is expected to be launched some time in 2022.
Some Smaller Updates from the Summit
While the X Summit featured new lens, cameras, and a sneak look at where we can expect the GFX and X-Series to head in the future, Fuji also used this date to sneak in a few smaller changes as well. These include a relatively minor upgrade to one X-Series camera and a lower price another.
Fuji X-T30 II
Fuji decided to release an updated, “Mark II” version of the X-T30 rather than jump up to a new X-T40. While this is likely since the updates are not substantial good enough to warrant a boost in the product name, the X-T30 II still looks like a good entry into the X-System. Updates over the standard X-T30 incorporate a higher resolution LCD display, autofocus improvements, and 2 new film simulations (classic negative and Eterna Lighten Bypass). Shipping in October, the X-T30 II may retail for $899.
Discounted Fuji X-T3
The Fuji X-T3 is now available for $100 off, offered without the battery charger.
