Nikon Z6 II vs Canon EOS R6

Two of the very most interesting mirrorless cameras today are the Nikon Z6 II and the Cannon EOS R6 . Although they target slightly different audiences, they also have a lot of similarities. Nowadays, I’ve put them head-to-head in everything from specifications to image quality.

Nikon Z6 II vs Canon EOS R6

We’ll start by looking at the particular specifications and features of both cameras:

Nikon Z6 II and Canon EOS R6 Specifications

Camera Feature Nikon Z6 II Canon EOS R6
*Canon’s official specifications say the EOS R6 can autofocus from -6. 5 ELECTRONIC VEHICLES to +20 EV. However , Canon assumes an f/1. 2 lens at ISO 100, while other producers assume an f/2 zoom lens at ISO 100 for this specification. Thus, the standardized focusing EV range for the EOS R6 is -5 EV to +21. 5 EV. Read more at EV explained .
**The Nikon Z6 II official dimensions do not include the depth from the protruding viewfinder. To match the standards of other producers, roughly 15 mm (0. 6 inches) must be put into the Z6 II’s depth measurement, for a total associated with 85 mm (3. three or more inches).

There’s high levels of green in both columns higher than the, which means this is an exciting match up against. Nikon has slightly more megapixels, a bigger EVF, and made longer 900 second shutter rates. Canon has a tilt-flip butt LCD, a higher frame rate, as well as a bigger buffer.

Ignoring price, it’s wonderful to say that the Canon EOS R6 is the more advanced surveillance camera in some important ways. Other simply able to push far more data through the imaging conduite: 20 FPS for 240 frames compared to 14 FRAMES PER SECOND for 124. For absolutely nothing and wildlife photography, that can puts it clearly ahead (even more so considering that the EOS R6 has one of the best mirrorless autofocus systems we’ve checked; see our Canon EOS R6 professional review   for more with that. )

In addition taking price into account, a fresh tougher comparison. The Z6 II costs $500 smaller at the time of this article’s déclaration, which is a lot of money to put as part of your a lens or tripod upgrade, or simply keep in the financial institution. For photographers who may not need the wicked-fast shooting on this Canon EOS R6, currently the Nikon Z6 II obviously represents a better value.

Still, the spectacular fast shooting must be highlighted. If you’re a sports in addition wildlife photographer who’s on top of the fence between these two day and night camaras, I recommend the Canon EOS R6 even at the taller price. 20 FPS with a buffer and top-notch autofocus system is enough for almost all, and while the Z6 II is hardly terrible in these areas, it does lag on the (especially in autofocus keeping track of performance).

Naturally , the differences are largely learned to a lot of photographers. If you’re at this time a dedicated Nikon or Ciment shooter, it doesn’t allow much sense to pass ship to either of them cameras and spend hard earned cash replacing your lens selection. Camera companies constantly leapfrog each other, and chasing the brand name has a temporary advantage most certainly just leave a hole in your wallet without gaining better photography.

Image Quality Ratings

How do this Nikon Z6 II and so Canon EOS R6 analyze in image quality? We should first take a look at their energetic range performance.   Many 100% crops from the Nikon Z6 II (on currently the left) versus the Canon EOS R6 (on the right). The Z6 II icon was downsampled slightly to fit the EOS R6’s definition. Both images were underexposed by five stops and also boosted in Lightroom:

Nikon Z6 II Dynamic Range +5 EV +50 Shadows Canon EOS R6 Dynamic Range +5 EV +50 Shadows

The exact Canon EOS R6 comes with perhaps the slightest bit more screech (see the purple colouring swatch at the top), women and men differences are so small as that must be insignificant.

Why don’t you consider highlight recovery? Here are allégorie of the same scene that have been restored from four stops connected overexposure:

The Nikon Z6 II has the slightest tad more of an color in the yellow sample at the top, but it’s might be relevant. The dynamic spectrum here is as close so as you’re likely to see near cameras from different engineers, and it’s excellent in both cases.

Then why not high ISO performance? By no means spoil things, but it might be pretty similar once again.   The images below are 100% seeds (Z6 II downsampled slightly), with the Nikon Z6 II on the left and the Canon EOS R6 on the right. These are ISO 1600:

ISO 204, 800:

Nikon Z6 II ISO 204800 Canon EOS R6 ISO 204800

That’s a very similar running. Up to ISO 51, a couple of, I can’t see different meaningful differences. At INTERNATIONALE ORGANISATION FÜR STANDARDISIERUNG 102, 400 and 204, 800, the Z6 II has a bit more discoloration as opposed to the EOS R6, but it also makes some low-level details a bit better. Neither is ahead of some other, but both are excellent standard. The images look usable all over ISO 12, 800, reveal even push it into ISO 25, 600 without using totally ruining image outstanding. That’s pretty impressive.

Which One Should You Put?

Clearly, my Nikon Z6 II and also Canon EOS R6 have any similarities – most of all to be able to image quality. While the closet cameras trade punches while specifications, the Canon EOS R6 pulls ahead courtesy of its huge buffer, 20 FPS shooting, and superior autofocus system. However , it is an also $500 more expensive, very photographers who are happy with “only” 14 FPS and a considerably less flexible focusing system can help to conserve a good bit of money.

Between the two, even while a Nikon Z single myself, I would recommend that most photography enthusiasts who don’t have ties inside either brand go with my Canon EOS R6. Becasue i see it, the improvements can be found worth $500, at least discovering to do sports or pets photography. (Both are nice equivalent for portraiture, due to excellent eye-detect autofocus networks on both cameras. )

That said, my final recommendation is to just combine with the brand you’re familiar with, until you only have weak ties & switching won’t be cost prohibitive. The Nikon Z6 II and Canon EOS R6 are really fantastic cameras, together with both are priced competitively. You can not go wrong either way.
